Course Description:
The Essential Clinical Skills Training for Care Assistants and Care Support Workers is a comprehensive program designed to equip healthcare support workers with the necessary knowledge and skills required to provide excellent care to patients.
This one-day 10am to 5pm intensive training program is interactive and provides a practical approach to learning.
The course content covers essential clinical skills such as blood pressure and pulse monitoring, respiratory rate, clinical measurements and recording, fluid balance charts, BMI calculation, urinalysis dipstick, temperature measurement, glucose level monitoring, stool collection and sampling, completing patient observation chart and understanding NEWS 2, and infection control including C.Diff and MRSA.
During the training program, participants will engage in interactive activities and practical sessions to ensure that they understand the concepts covered. Upon completion of the theoretical part of the training, participants will have one week of self-study time to prepare for a 60 multiple-choice question assessment. The assessment test will take approximately 45 minutes to complete, and a pass mark of 60% or more is required to obtain the certificate.
This training program is suitable for individuals who are currently working or have experience as Support Workers/Healthcare Assistants but lack knowledge in practical clinical skills. Participants must be over 18 years old, and have a good command of English and basic numeracy.
